Nordstrom Canada Anni Sale 2018

I know everybody and their sister is talking about the Nordtrom Anniversary Sale right now on social media so I thought I would share a slightly different take. Lets be honest, Nordstrom Canada does not have a great online shopping experience.  Mostly due to the  large fees  for shipping and customs/handling. But they do have some nice things and the Anniversary Sale is a great opportunity to invest in some Fall pieces at great prices.  But it requires heading to the actual store if you want a deal.

So these are few Nordstom Canada Sale picks that I actually found in store.  A couple things to note: 1) you can’t always find the things online in the stores in Canada and 2) the pricing online is often different in store.

I went to the Yorkdale store on early access day a couple days ago and here are some of the items I found. As you can see I was most excited by the shoes.  Although with an 11 month old in tow, I also didn’t have hours to browse the clothing section so its likely I may have passed over some nice things.  Either way its worth a trip to the store.

1. BP Motto Leggings.  $31.  I had been eyeing these leggings since last Winter so I was pleased to see they were part of the sale.  And I was even more pleased when I tried them on.  They fit awesome, similar to SPANX in terms of the rise, but not as much compression.  But still they do a great job at sucking it all in.  I would totally wear these postpartum. They are more olive green than the pic which makes then appear really brown.  They come in black too.

2. SPANX Faux Leather Leggings.  If you are in the market for some new faux leather leggings, the SPANX ones are awesome.  I got these last year at the Anni Sale and they were a lifesaver for me postpartum.  I forget the price I saw them at instore but I think they were less than $100.

3. Vince Camuto Slingbacks.  $120.  I also fell in love with these slingbacks.  They have such a cool retro feel.   I didn’t buy them because they were a little loose around the ankle on me for some reason but I have really narrow feet.

4. Louise Et Cie Leopard Bow Slides.  $120.  These mules were also so cute on.  I love the oversized bow.  If I had endless budget and more space in my shoe closet I would have brought these home as well.

5. Treasure And Bond White Studded Mules.  $99.  I can’t wait to wear these in the Fall with girlfriends jeans and a checked blazer.

6. Chuck Taylor Shoreline Sneakers.  $50.  Okay I totally didn’t need another pair of sneakers, but these were only $50 and the light blush colour is so cute.  So I had to. I didn’t see these online but they were in store.  No idea if they are still in store though.

7.  Vince Camuto Booties.  $145.  I came home with these booties.  Super comfortable  but now I am on the fence about whether to keep them or not.  I definitely need a pair brown booties BUT I have seen so many bloggers talk about these and I hate when I have the same stuff as everyone else.

Spring’s Cutest Mules Under $100

mules under $100 blog

I was apprehensive about the mule trend at first.  It took me a while to get on board.  But now mules are my go-to shoe and not because I need or want to be “on trend” but because I finally realized how practical a slip on shoe is.  I wish I figured this out last summer when I was 9 months pregnant.  Anyhow, I have become slightly obsessed with mules so I am sharing some of my fav mules under $100.

First I will share some casual options and then a few that are more office appropriate.

Shoe Diaries: Floral Mules

The mule is definitely the shoe of the season and I couldn’t be happier.  Why?  Because I hate my toes – even when they are perfectly pedicured.  And of course the obvious, there is nothing better than slip on shoes.

I just found these floral embroidered mules at Aldo for only $80.   As per my criteria for building my new, more practical shoe wardrobe, they are super comfortable and can be dressed up or down.

As per usual all items are linked so you can shop and with the exception of H&M shipping/returns are free with a minimum spend. And all items are under $50, with the exception of the shoes.

Look #1: Summer Night Out

I would totally wear this out on date night.  The shirt is cropped and a little more revealing so I would wear it with a high waisted pant to cover up a little on the bottom.   I love pairing feminine colours and prints with khaki.

Look #2: Stripes on Stripes

At first I thought this look might be a littly matchy matchy with the shoes, but it  totally works.  I chose a long sleeve tee and would do a partial tuck in the front to show off the super cure waist band on these shorts.    There is something about shorts and sweaters/long sleeves that I love.  And I kept the bag super neutral because there is alot going on already.

Look #3: Feminine Detailing

One of the criteria for my new, more practical shoe wardrobe, is that a new pair must look great with denim because I wear alot of denim.  And mules definately work with a pair of jeans.  I like to show a little ankle with mules so I wear a cropped pair or cuff my denim.   it helps show off your shoe but I find it also helps make your legs look longer.

I went for a pretty white embroidered top in this look.  Its hard to see the details in the pic below but this shirt is so feminine with the embroidery and ruffle detailing.  And I love this bag but beware, its small.  But perfect for a day out.  The smaller the bag means the less shit you can stuff in it which ultimately means the lighter it will be.  And who doesn’t like a nice light bag.

Shoe Diaries: Pearly Flat Mules

I love shoes.  Like really love them.  Before babies I wore heels all the time.  I would suffer for a great pair of heels.  My poor feet.  Now that I am carrying a baby on my hip and chasing a two year old round, I have come to terms with the fact that I need something more sensible.  So its been fun, albeit challenging,  to find a new shoe wardrobe that marries comfort (or at least more comfortable than a 4 inch pair of heels) and fashion.

And I know I am not alone in this challenge so every week I am going to share a pair of shoes that are both fashionable and functional and a few ways to style them.  This first week I am going to share a pair that I ordered from Zara last week.  And they were only $40.
